Behind the Usernames

Usernames! We all got them, some good some bad, but (at least) most of them have a backstory. Whether it's due to an old clan, a song (hi), a nostalgic game, movie, book, or even just your real name, you probably have a reason for it. So, let's see those reasons! I'll start.

Everlong is a Foo Fighter's song obviously, but that wasn't the name I joined AHG under. I used to be TheLonelyHat, cause I really didn't have good friends at the time I made it. Eventually, IRL shit happened: my best friend for 12 years turned out to have been spreading rumors about me for a few years, but that situation also made me realize who my real friends were as they immediately came to try and cheer me up, and they did. Realizing that I really had a lot more support than I initially thought, I knew that I outgrew that old name, and thus Everlong came into use, and it's stayed that way for about three years at this point. Of course I still got the old name on stuff like Minecraft and Fortnite (when I played it), but I'm Everlong everywhere else, and it's unlikely to change any further.

Well here goes.

Dinomoto was originally Dinamita Collossus. Dinamita was from some squirrels pronunciation of "Dynamite" off one of the trailers of Hoodwinked! After being called Dina a few times, I changed it to a more boyish look, hence Dinomoto. I was 15. Collossus was spelt wrong by accident but I preferred it. Changed Collossus to Mennovi after a long time and then cut the second name schtick after another long time too.

I'm an avid card game and TCG player so my name came from the first competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! deck that I ever played. It kind of just stuck after a while. I'll link it below and show you the card that started it all.

I ran the alias “Exactly” back then in sgm because it stuck to me and when people would mention me, it had a funny tone to it saying like “Exactly, that’s Exactly why we need Exactly on here.” Pretty comedic times with that name back in 2016.

Over time, I veered to more serious nicknames that sounded cool and simple I guess. After Exactly, I went with something serious and used “Vexed” or “vex” as it was a simple name that stuck to me and I enjoyed the meaning of it. Ran that name til 2020 when I took a hiatus on TTT communities as I was never apart of AHG.

Fast forward to today, I use “arcana” and this is actually from the Shin Megami Tensei series and was inspired by the Persona franchise. Back then around 2021, I played my first Persona game which was Persona 5 on the PlayStation 4 and I was absolutely hooked like a crackhead finding a crack sandwich (horrible analogy I know) but the game had this cool word “arcana” to describe social links with characters that granted benefits the stronger the social link level was in the game and it always stuck to me. Stuck to me to the point where I eventually adopted the name into everything such as my IGN and steam name or even discord.

In 2011 I played a lot of TF2. One time I was on a saxton hale server and a drunk admin started abusing and renaming the whole server. The name I got was something along the lines of what I use now and I stuck with it.

Drunk admin is certaintly interesting lol.

So early 2014. I'm introduced to Garry's Mod. TTT, to be specific.
So I joined a cool server you may have heard of. Serious TTT.
At the time my Username was Gr8wiided. It was a play on my fathers username.

As you can tell, it doesn't really read well spoken aloud, which lead to some confusion so I wanted to change.
At this time, I was playing a lot of pokemon and my Favorite Pokemon, Espurr, was at it's peak relevance.
So I decided to name myself "Espurr" and the rest is history.

Cel Damage was my favorite game growing up, it was also one of the first games I ever had when I got my gamecube as a hand me down from my cousin (the 3 games I got were Cel Damage, Godzilla and Melee)

A long time ago I had a friend that had a name that ended in .org and one year I made drawings of us for halloween, him as a vampire and me as a zombie. He said "hey wouldn't it be funny if you changed your name to zomb.org?" (it's actually pronounced zom-bee-dot-org but zom-borg is how it's usually pronounced, which is fine) because we were playing CSGO duos at the time. I thought that was a fun idea so I changed my name and kept it for a while. A bit later the next year he ended up passing away. Since then, I have never changed my name from zomb.org and I will continue to use it as long as I can. As a Christmas present one year, my mods from my Twitch stream bought me the actual domain and now it redirects to my steam account as well so that is "mine" too.

Wow, it does. That's very nice.

2007, Halo 3. Got my first console that was only mine, and Xbox Live suggested "Sgt. Muffin" or something of the sort. Been some variation ever since. Damn that was 19 years ago...
