Tired of seeing the same silly maps every evening? Sick of being the bad guy who has to hype up a random vote since it’s the only way out of playing dolls for the third time that night? Want to feel like your vote has purpose in these trying times?
I’m proposing we rework our voting system that selects the most voted for map at round end with a system that would roll a dice weighted accordingly.
Let’s pretend I’m on a full server with 30 or so people. Map vote comes up, and the voted maps end up being innomotel (49 percent), hairy house (21 percent), random (15 percent), crummy cradle (10 percent), and bikini bottom (5 percent).
Weighing the dice roll according to the percentages above would still favor the map that won the popularity contest, but would open the door to playing the maps other people voted for.
Some tweaks that I could see arguments for:
If the map earns a convincing majority of votes (over 60 percent), there would be no roll off, give the server what they want if the hive mind is uniform enough. This suggestion is really to keep the 30-40 percent winners from dictating what the other 60 percent of the server does.
If a map doesn’t break the 10 percent threshold, it might be worthwhile to consider excluding it from the vote
