This is a fun introspective thing for me, because I don't wanna include quite as much weeb and vocaloid shit which my current top 25 is probably entirely full of. Instead I am thinking of this as more of a top 25 throughout high school and college to beyond.


That said, #1 for me is Vocaloid, because it's also my favorite song period. This is a shortened animated version of the song RRRRREpeat! which is a 70 minute vocaloid song which is essentially just several vocaloids creating an improv jazz jam session. (including Yukari who's my favorite vocaloid)
All of Gyari's work is amazing and humorous, but above all its extremely well composed jazz and he is an insanely talented producer.

uh oh, #2 is also vocaloid... its also over 30 minutes long

Sight, Noise Life & The Earth by Kikuo - Kikuo and Gyari are two producers I would recommend to people who have no interest in vocaloid, because while the vocaloids are singers in their songs, their instrumental work is what does the heavy lifting and both are insanely good. Gyari is jazzy and tells lighthearted , humorous and wholesome stories. Kikuo uses his extensive musical background to create electronic compositions that tell stories of trauma and darker subjects. (that said, the song I picked isnt that dark, if you want to hear those look up Worthless Child, Corpse Dance, Im Sorry Im Sorry or Aishite Aishite)

Hybrid Rainbow - The Pillows - FLCL has always been my favorite anime, ever since I found a poster of it at a yard sale. The Pillows is a J-Rock band heavily inspired by the Pixies

If one punk song were to be featured its between DK and Clash, but I need to give it to this one because I played this song so much back in the day, and Jello has really molded my POV on a lot of stuff since early high school



In high school and early college, Symphonic and Progressive metal as well as some punk were the genres I predominantly listened to, with my top bands being Epica (I was absolutely obsessed with the singer and she was easily my first real celebrity crush) Nightwish, Kamelot, Rhapsody of Fire, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Opeth, Stratovarius, Primus, etc)
Epica - Consign to Oblivion In most cases, while I loved metal I was never really a fan of growlers, the only few exceptions I ever made to this were in Epica songs like this, and Opeth.

Life is too short and I'm too jaded to not want to celebrate the things you enjoy, 100% embrace the cringe. That said I picked my 25 with the intention of getting a spread of 25 songs that I really like from a variety of sources rather than just picking 25 from 4-5 sources, so I get it.
