Pending C5

I don't dislike the idea, but I think you'd need to change the behavior of c4 for just this round to have a minimum timer of 20 seconds or so, it should only be able to happen on certain maps, and there should be some mechanic to make the round progressively more lethal as time goes on. I'm also a bit concerned that this round will likely result in a lot of ties from everyone dying simultaneously.

  • 20 second timer means there isn't 75 seconds of waiting at the start of the round until people start dying, that becomes 50 seconds instead (still pretty long). It also means that once the killing slows down, it's not 45 seconds of waiting between each kill attempt. I understand that you'd be planting c4 more than once every 45 seconds, but 45 seconds between the arming and the detonation feels way too long for a fun round.
  • There are some maps where this round will simply not be fun. A few that come to mind are crummy cradle and 67th way.
  • Once enough people die, the killing is going to slow down dramatically. There needs to be some way to close out the round, or this is always going to end very slowly. Could be something simple like c4 radius gradually getting larger, or something more complicated like dead players coming back as zombies to hunt down survivors. That one isn't exactly thematic, but it would work.
I think this concept is pretty fun, but there are so many question marks in the execution that I don't really see it working out.
 
Has planting too many C4s ever actually crashed the server?

I hear people joking about it all of the time, but I can't honestly think of a time where that has actually happened.

I've seen it massively lag out a server on several occasions, but outright crash I've only seen once - 8 years ago.

As for this suggestion, crash or no crash, I think it's a cool concept but depending on map and player count, this is somewhere between really slow and extremely fast. I think I would enjoy a round like this 2 or 3 times - and then I'd feel like I've played it enough. For me, an important part of fun rounds is interaction between players - both mechanically and generally. The desperate back and forth bomb rush duel; the jumping, praying, and predicting of harpoon wars, etc.
I think running around randomly planting C4s waiting for them to go off a while later ... For me, it just wouldn't be all that fun. I do like the concept of a bomberman type fun round - I don't think this is it.

Depending on the map, yes y'all might be right that 20 c4 going off at once maaaaaay crash the server with prop collisions. I mainly just want a bomberman fun round that isn't hot potato bomb rush.

How about making it Jihad based? That way everyone only gets one shot, and its not all about running around and surviving, its about getting as many others with you as possible.
Or maybe half the server gets Jihads and the other half get Deagles, kind of like Dodgeball...

Could it work if props were frozen? Because I believe that's the big issue with multiple c4 is triggering a ton of props moving at once
