More mobility for traitors chasing down the last silly detective, broadens common sense scenarios a fair bit (right now, you have to assume the potential of a grappling hook in every common sense scenario since it’s detective equipment and not treated as traitorous)

I strongly dislike how much power is gained by the mobility of having access to a grappling hook. Giving this to the traitors would seriously boost the lethality of the traitor team. It is a trade off, since that would make it traitorous to use a grappling hook, but that essentially pushes the meta more towards deathmatch by increasing the power level at the cost of reduced stealthiness. For anyone who thinks that bhopping traitors are annoying to play against, the grappling hook requires less skill to use, allows for faster movement and acceleration, negates fall damage, and allows for movement in any direction. I think this would be extremely boring to give to traitors.

You make an extremely good point about common sense though. I was going to -1 this, but I'll stay neutral for now because I don't have a better solution to the common sense problem other than proposing that common sense kills just ignore the potential for grappling hooks, which I think would be antithetical to the nature of common sense.

I will hijack this suggestion for you and suggest the detectives grappling hook gets replaced with the newton launcher, as I despise detectives delaying with it :^)

I will also -1 this for similar reasons to pigeon, at least especially with the current form of grapple gun we have, I do see the idea of giving t's another form of movement for a credit in some capacity.

I love the grappling hook but tbh it's pretty overpowered (pls dont change or remove it though :D). I think it would be waaayyyy too powerful if traitors had it.

Give Traitors invisibility cloak. The people yearn for stealth gameplay.
-1 for traitor hooks. detectives or rogue inno's having the hook isn't causing too many issues and it's very easy to react/counter a hook player coming after you, and if someone is delaying/abusing/ being overtly toxic with the hook by not engaging with the round just let the staff handle it.

The grappling hook in its current state is very strong. If this were to be implemented, I would like to see the grappling hook be considered traitorous. Otherwise, it would be way too overpowered for the traitors to have. That being said, I think giving such a strong movement option to the traitors while they have really strong healing options would make for some really annoying situations. Giving the traitors a worse movement option or nerfing their current healing ability would be very cool in my opinion.

Considering it's detective equipment, and a lot of detectives don't buy it for one reason or another, there aren't usually that many in a round. If traitors had access to the grappling hook, there is a good possibility that we would see so many in a round that things could get very silly very fast. -1 because I love my inno rounds and think this would make them very very boring.

Coming from a huge grapple abuser, adding this to the T shop sounds like a horrible idea.

If you want to give traitors more sources of mobility, a decent solution would be tweaking the newton launcher's jump boosting perk by making it scale with its secondary mode (the charge shot).

Yeah, no, this is a hard -1

It's already broken enough on the detective and I would argue for it to be removed, giving it to traitors just means a lot of people will be flying around almost untouchable to score kills.

Was gonna post this on my original reply but I sent jabba a different grapple addon that works a lil different mechanically

Also if this suggestion is implemented i guarantee it will be traitorous to have just like a teleporter is, you wont have to worry about that

Yeah, it for sure would be. The main reason I brought this to the table was the common sense side of things; open maps (especially dark open maps with the Halloween update) have common sense scenarios invalidated by the grappling hooks existence.

My favorite example is canyon, if you’re hanging out near the mouth of the cave, you see wink walk by the mouth of the cave one direction, disappearing behind the building and 10 seconds later you see wink walking by from that same direction again. Your common sense would dictate that wink had to teleport for that scenario so you kill, when in reality he could have grapple hooked along the edge of the canyon just out of earshot/eyeshot.

Admins can also just say common sense scenarios ignore detective equipment unless you explicitly know the player possessed it :^)

Don't really like the idea of giving more mobility like that for traitors. It would make it quite difficult for innos to kill Ts on maps where it's useful for a quick "kill and get out" because it's got a lot of space, like Dolls. I find the grappling hook is already pretty annoying when detectives use it.

With that being said however, I think Ts could benefit from added mobility for this purpose that isn't quite to the extent of the grappling hook. Something like a teleporter but maybe a bit faster to use
