Previous staffing experience
I have been an Admin on a construct server in my past, other than that I have none
Why should you be considered for a moderator position?
1. Do you meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread?

Yes, I meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread.

2. Why do you want to join the Giants Lair staff team?

I enjoy the game a lot, get along well with most people in the community, and appreciate having a place I can spend time and unwind when I’m not working. I want to help keep the Giants Lair community fun, fair, and enjoyable for everyone.

3. What skills or experiences do you bring to the team?

I work in high level management in my professional life, where I currently oversee and manage over 100 people. This has given me strong people management, leadership, and decision making skills, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations. I’m also technically savvy and comfortable learning systems, tools, and server mechanics as needed.

4. How active are you across our platforms (GMod, Discord, Forums)?

I’m registered on both the Discord and the forums, but I’m most active in-game on the server. I’m usually online every day or every other day and spend the majority of my time playing on the server.

5. How much time can you realistically dedicate to staffing per week?

My availability can vary depending on my work schedule. I typically work between 60 - 85 hours per week depending on seasonality. Some weeks I can be online and active most nights, while other weeks my availability may be more limited. That said, when I am online, I’m attentive and willing to help where needed.

6. How well do you handle pressure, criticism, or heated situations?

I handle pressure, criticism, and heated situations very well. In my professional role, I regularly manage large teams and deal with conflicts, difficult conversations, and emotionally charged or irrational reactions. Staying calm, composed, and objective in these situations is a routine part of my responsibilities.

7. How would you describe your conflict resolution style?

I follow a clear escalation-based approach to conflict resolution. I start with empathy and clear explanation, making sure the other person understands the situation and feels heard. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, I shift to a calm but firm approach. If a situation continues to escalate beyond that, I’m comfortable involving a higher authority or following established procedures to ensure it’s handled appropriately.

8. Are you familiar with the TTT server rules and general community standards?

Yes. I’ve been playing TTT since the days of the original “Serious TTT” servers and am very familiar with the core rules, gameplay expectations, and general community standards.

9. What does your punishment history (if any) look like on our servers?

I believe I have a small handful of slays on record, with no bans or kicks. Overall, my punishment history should be relatively minimal and favorable when compared to my total playtime.

10. What is your reputation like within the community?

I believe most people would consider me a fun, engaging, and generally calm presence in the community. While I’ve had occasional minor disagreements in the past, I typically aim for resolution once things cool down and don’t let conflicts linger unnecessarily.

Hey Rick, I've played with you a handful of times and I have observed mostly positive experiences. You generally interact with the server in a positive and energetic way, and that often results in a fun, conversational, and engaging experience. I have not played with you enough yet to feel confident in supporting this application or not yet, so I'll remain neutral for the time being.

A quick question to get a better sense of your mindset:
  • What do you consider to be the main function of the staff team?

Finally, I see you've been in the discord for just over two months now, and in that time you've made some conversation here and there. While we are currently only operating a TTT server, we are actively planning expansion into other games and working to build on the community aspect. We do not enforce requirements for community engagement among staff members, but it is strongly encouraged. Hanging out around the discord and forums more, hopping into a VC every now and then, or participating in some of the game nights and events would reflect positively on you, as well as help us get to know you better.

Hi Rick!

I’ve interacted with you a ton over the last few months. You’re often a friendly presence in voice chat (whether it’s with some funny reverb as the voice of god or just having some fun discussions playing trouble in terrorist town with the boys), you ask questions on rulings when the situation prompts for it, and I truly believe your intent here is to help maintain the fun we all have playing with you.

You have a pair of slays for revenge rdm you didn’t mention with your punishment history above; I witnessed that situation first hand and I’m not worried about you repeating that behavior anytime soon.

A tidbit I will say about being a fun vocal presence as staff is knowing where the line between banter and instigating rule breaking behavior exists. It’s something that took me a minute to learn and sometimes I still have some moments where I play back the recording and definitely think I should have been better. That’s something I believe an admin will help coach you to find if needed.

Your application has my full support. I’m excited to see where you might go.

I have played a lot with Rick over the past little bit on the server. You know the rules very well and I hardly see you on any of my reports, and in general you have a good vibe on the server and contribute positively to player interactions.

To add to what pigeon said, staffing is also about having a strong community presence. As we expand to additional servers/games, we want to continue building out our community and growing - and maintaining - a player base that wants to enjoy what we provide. I think you have the vibe that we are looking for to keep players interested in sticking around. I would love to see you more in the Discord and forums, as that can help us further accomplish this goal.

I do think you'd be a solid pickup for an admin, and I think with a good T-mod phase you'd grow into a very effective staff member. You have my +1

Up until recently I have definitely thought of you as a prime candidate for staff, you know the rules, I rarely see you in reports and you are a fun guy to be around, that being said my concern and question for you is regarding when there is a rowdy crowd of players that begin to tow the line and cause chaos I have seen you join in on a few occasions with that chaos.

One time that stuck out was there were a few trolls that began harassing a girl, making fun of her calling her a blue hair and making fun of their voice. Now, admittedly both of the parties involved in this case were instigating each other, but that doesn't matter in this case because the issue was that you were participating in it. This situation did sour my opinion of you because you were joining in on the trolling of that player; making fun of her voice and laughing when the troll ( who wound up getting banned for harassing more than just her) said "you sound like a man"

So my question to you is why did you participate in that, and do you recognize why it was wrong to do so?

I am neutral because other than that case, and some other staff mentioning they have seen some other more minor cases of it, you are a great member of the community.

Hi Pigeon! Thank you for your response, I appreciate your feedback despite our lack of a more established rapport and history.

To answer your question,

"What do you consider to be the main function of the staff team?"

I believe the main function of the staff team is to maintain a fun and safe environment for to community to play and grow inside of. We have a lot of different people with different backgrounds, ideologies, and communication styles. Making sure everyone can be themselves whilst playing within the bounds of our values and rules is very crucial to keeping this community the gem that it is!

Thanks again

Hey!

That feedback means a lot, especially coming from someone who’s clearly put thought into both the positives and the areas to grow. I agree completely about the line between banter and instigation, and I’m very open to coaching and self reflection there. I’ve learned a lot already just by being around experienced staff.

Thanks again for the support, I’m excited to keep contributing in a positive way.

Thank you for the detailed feedback and for acknowledging the positives: knowing the rules, staying out of reports, and being a fun presence means a lot to me.

I don’t remember that specific incident, but I understand why it stood out to you. In moments like that, I would assume I was treating the situation as general banter instead of recognizing that the crowd had crossed into targeting someone, and by participating at all I was contributing to the problem rather than helping stop it. I can see why that was wrong, regardless of intent. Frankly, because I don't remember it and it doesn't really sound like something i'd say, it's a bit difficult to know how to respond.

That being said, that incident, and similar minor ones you referred too, show me where I need to be more deliberate about disengaging or de-escalating when things get rowdy.

Going forward, especially if given a staff role, I’d hold myself to that higher standard and focus on setting the tone rather than blending into the chaos.

Thank you again for your honest and balanced feedback

I appreciate your response, I did have a feeling that you simply didn't recognize who you were encouraging when you laughed at their jokes, I do have the clip of you are interested to see it in PM.

That said, while I am neutral, I do wish you luck and I see that you have great potential!

+1 aside from some small minor mistakes, Rick is a pleasant person to be with on the server and based off responses to these small mistakes I feel he's understood and accepted these mistakes rather than brushing them off. I don't see Rick that often throughout reports, always is engaging with other players in small talk or in game play, and along with in game play seems to follow the rules with it. Rick is a good candidate for any Admin that picks him up
