Pending D Weapon: Golden Deagle

In my experiences playing with this weapon, people get real sick of it real quick.

I wouldn’t mind this if it was a time based credit item; if the timer passes a certain time (let’s just use the afk standard of 2 minutes left on the timer) , let me buy this and take a chance to kill a delayer who just won’t make a move. On the flip side, it helps the delayer not delay if wink is inevitability wrong.

Definitely can’t be a standard shop item, I can definitely see detectives targeting their least favorite player and taking the chance on them immediately at round start. It’s one thing if they ruin their round with it, but it easily can ruin other players rounds that way,
 
I feel it's a bit harsh calling it "ruining someone's round" when it poses a way bigger risk for yourself as a detective, but I can see why you might consider it unfun.
In my opinion the detective shop is currently a bit lackluster and the golden deagle could add some sauce to it
 
I think this would lend itself well to a server focused more around a tight social deduction gameplay, centered around sussing out the traitors.
Ours leans more into a fast-paced game style, which means that this weapon won't fit that well, in my opinion.

I like the concept and recall similar being the case in other social deduction games. I just don't think it'll work in our meta. It's a -1 for me.
 
I think it could actually work under one condition, if we can somehow modify this:

Shooting an Innocent does not damage them, but will kill you instead.

This way, it ruins nobody else's round but yours and can punish Disguisers (and just Traitors in general) for operating too carelessly and getting themselves KOS'd early on.

I agree our current Detective offerings are lackluster, but I see issues with this. I think this would sort of incentivize “guessing” and kills on suspicion. It does have potential to be hilarious too I can see that, but things like this tend to be fun for a few days, and become much less fun after.

I feel like this would degenerate to people getting bored in their Detective rounds and buying this to mess around, and I think it’s gimmick could and will backfire pretty quickly.

Also credit to Siddo, but this would work better in a game like Town of Salem or social games, and less in our community because we don’t tend to see long drawn out rounds where we simply can’t guess who the Traitor is, and so this would end up being used in ways I don’t think would contribute to the fun of others.

This is a server you can buy detective on. Let's pretend I buy detective every chance I get and really don't like @VanillaGorilla2001 . I could gimp his gameplay to "innocent/traitor when I'm traitor only" technically within the confines of the ruleset by manhunting him down and shooting this off rip. Sure, most of the time it'll ruin my round. But on the instances it works, that's not fucking fair at all to him; he has no agency to immediately counter that without giving himself away as a traitor based off decisions wink is making.

That's not a fun scenario for him, it's not a fun scenario for a staff member to clean up, especially when the targeting can be altered after a warning to be harder to catch ala "well its 40 seconds into the round and he identified a lot of bodies, worth a shot!"

It might be decent in the niche scenario I mentioned above where it can help solve a delayer/give a detective another tool in their belt as the clock runs down to be proactive about delayers. Otherwise god damn no thank you.
 
With how silly some the seasonal weapons in this content have been (in a good way!), I was thinking how something in the spirit of the golden deagle could be played with on our server. I was debating making this its own suggestion but I think it matches the spirit of the weapon enough to belong here.

My suggestion is to abandoned the whole shtick of having the detective attempt to make a kill off suspicion on a traitor and replace it with a mechanic that rewards the detective and his team for shooting innocents with the gun. On the flip side, the detective would die if he shot a traitor with the gun, rewarding the traitors for deceiving a proven role.

A mechanic that might be too snowbally of a reward but I see some humor in is “if you shoot innocent, that innocent becomes a detective!”. Other mechanics could be credit incentives for detectives/other ways of verifying someone as a “proven” to the whole innocent team.

We do get somewhat of a similar problem when it comes to ruining t rounds; If the detective is communicating with his team, some traitor deaths may be forced prematurely ala “hey guys imma gonna try making this guy a detective, if I die and he ain’t blue kill him”. However, it requires a lot more communication and teamwork than the original version of this weapon on traitors.

From the surface level I’m glancing it, it might have enough merit to use as a seasonal detective item to see what happens.

We have quite a few players who have been playing this game for many, many years. People pick up on other people's gameplay patterns, and you can make quite favorable guesses as to when someone is a T. It's like a legalized form of metagaming.

Or you can do exactly what Wink mentioned and just use it as a means to commit toxic gameplay legally.

This also completely ignores how broken the gun is if you AREN'T guessing. If you know someone is a T, you are basically guaranteed a kill with it. Seeing as it won't shoot until it has a valid target, it leaves nothing to chance or skill. This is an immediate first buy if I'm a detective trying to win and not dicking around.
