We would like to get rid of some of the maps that suck to play on. Instead of asking you all to fill out a big, detailed map survey that only the small percentage of players that also happen to check the forums would see, I propose we just have a system in place where you can give the current map a thumbs up or thumbs down if you enjoyed it. We could then use that information to adjust the map pool. It would look something like this:

Map vote could also be extended by a couple seconds to account for a shiny new distraction.

I like this, but I've added a new button off to the side that I think will add some useful feedback for the entire team and community. This way, we can really tell what kinds of buttons people like using, which can help us with all our future button needs.

In all seriousness, this is a great suggestion. +1

Absolutely love this suggestion, makes it easier to get actual numbers other than skewing them. Especailly for people who can't remember names of certain maps etc so they may not be brought up but are still hated. Also makes it accurate to the people actively playing the game and not just people who have ideas of the maps they hate but haven't actually played them in ages. +1

This would be an amazing addition and would give us the most accurate data for this since it's live feedback. That being said, could this idea also work for music?

Out of curiosity, how many maps are you guys looking to get rid of? Or is it going to be based purely off negative feedback, as in a case-by-case basis
For that matter how many maps are in the rotation currently?

There isn't a target number in mind or anything, we just know that there are some maps that are pretty universally disliked (the one dark map with the floating islands is the one that immediately comes to mind). The map pool has come up in discussion around discord a few times at this point.

I mean I would assume their initial thought would be to purge just the ones that have overwhelmingly negative feedback or constantly kill pop, but I would argue that maps that are very neutral should also be considered

Gotcha, and that's funny lol I thought of that map immediately too.
I was mainly wondering because I like variety, it seems like we already mainly stick to a general 5-6 map rotation with occasional random. All for getting rid of bad maps, I just like a healthy map pool if that makes sense. I wasn't sure if you guys were looking to reduce by a percentage, cut bad maps, or cut the fat like Cel is saying.

So I've actually added a new button based on community feedback on this topic. Let me know what you all think.
Counter point, we change the map vote screen to this

Honestly I'm all for a massive map pool, but download size is something to keep in mind as well. Considering the number of currently accepted but not yet implemented map suggestions though, I imagine we'll be adding more than we'll be subtracting.

It's perfect.

I think lil thumbs up and thumbs down icons near the song banner could work well, but it would require players to hold tab or find another way to get their cursor up there, which is a little less intuitive than the map vote one. Analytics good though

Either that or have a prompt below the song saying press 1 for like, 2 for dislike. Maybe a third option to mute the song
