I do not have any previous staffing experience
Why should you be considered for a moderator position?
Much Cleaner Version:

1. Do you meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread?
I do meet these requirements, I just did 2FA for my account and the Discord linking system appears to not be working

2. Why do you want to join the Giants Lair staff team?
I find myself reading the rules again sometimes to either get a refresher or to look over my misplay or mistake I made and see if it was within the rules or actually not within the rules and is a rule from past servers I played in. In my hours of play I've seen that there's not always multiple mods on to monitor each other, and if there is then its kinda hard to monitor each other along with the amount of others, the more the better.

3. What skills or experiences do you bring to the team?
Ever since I found Giant's I've played almost every day, accumulating about 175-180 hours worth of play time in late August and September and I've found an interest within this server with my hours. Among these hours I have a good understanding of the rules and follow them on a regular basis and would be able to tell if someone broke one of them and deserves a consequence or not.

4. How active are you across our platforms (GMod, Discord, Forums)?
GMod servers is definitely where I am the most active. I am getting more active upon the forums and Discord after some time, but in my opinion, I haven't been that active within the two.

5. How much time can you realistically dedicate to staffing per week?
I can probably put down a good amount of hours per week staffing, if I had to put an amount, maybe around 20-24 hours a week.

6. How well do you handle pressure, criticism, or heated situations?
I feel I would be one of the people attempting to pull it out of being a heated situation, I would take criticism if its valid, if not probably with a grain of salt.

7. How would you describe your conflict resolution style?
I would handle situations with gathering all evidence and consult higher ups if possible to see their perspective, if alone, I would gather all evidence and look at the situations complexity and what the attackers cause and reaction was, as well as the victims POV to what happened to see if it was a misunderstanding.

8. Are you familiar with the TTT server rules and general community standards?
I am quite familiar with these rules and community standards, and I follow them to the best of my ability

9. What does your punishment history (if any) look like on our servers?
I've been slain 13 times according to Agennon, most of them I recall being for confusion or accidents from a place being chaotic, and only recall 1 being intentional RDM on Crummy Cradle for a bit. My poorest moments while being here are gone after a warning, I'm quick to get back in line after a little inconvenience. One of them being what Noct would call my "High sus" time, where I would call high sus and it would cause confusion among people since they weren't genuine. I was warned in a PM from an Admin and since then I rarely call High sus and when I do its for good reason.

10. What is your reputation like within the community?
My reputation within the community is pretty solid, I don't disrespect people, I get along with people if they're not being hissy or throwing tantrums, I got a good amount people that I enjoy seeing and I can assume feel the same way, some include Lync, Vanilla Gorilla, Uncle Dad, wink, Pierogi, Lordy, Husky, Elvis, Agennon, and at good amount more if I were to continue it would be at least 30 people

Long Version:
I've been playing TTT for at least 4 years, whether it be on CS:GO or GMod, so I know the rules of TTT to a pretty good extent. Ever since I found Giant's I've played almost every day, accumulating about 175-180 hours worth of play time in late August and September and I've found an interest within this server with my hours. I find myself reading the rules again sometimes to either get a refresher or to look over my misplay or mistake I made and see if it was within the rules or actually not within the rules and is a rule from past servers I played in. I was warned in a PM from an Admin and since then I rarely call High sus and when I do its for good reason. Other than those times, I'm pretty laid back in general while playing this game and don't get heated even with some bad experiences such as an RDM on a T round, as well as forgiving and understanding with RDM moments from others. I would handle situations with gathering all evidence and consult higher ups if possible to see their perspective, if alone, I would gather all evidence and look at the situations complexity and what the attackers cause and reaction was, as well as the victims POV to what happened to see if it was a misunderstanding. A big reason why I'm doing this is to see how I can get better and make it more enjoyable for everyone else, since I know I make mistakes, also seeing how the mods and admins perceive me. With that my biggest strengths are being chill and easy going, lots of activity, and knowledge of the rules and my weaknesses being unable to read the room and how everyone's feeling and having a lot of stuff thrown at me within 3-5 seconds worth of time.

Hello Sir, please edit and answer the required questions in the staff requirement thread

So I feel pretty good about you as a candidate and think you could be a solid addition to our team, but I do have one thing I'd like to ask you about.

As staff, our goal of being in the server isn't just about playing for our own enjoyment, it becomes also about playing for the health of the server. Are you prepared to possibly adjust elements of your playstyle to better suit this? As a player, being highly skilled and killing people on most T acts regardless of whether or not you actually think they are a Traitor is perhaps lame, but on the whole allowed. This isn't something we really want to see staff doing though, and the reason is how likely would new players be to return if the server they just joined has staff that in their mind just RDM'ed them and argued around the rules to get away with it?

Curious to hear your thoughts on this!

Actually a pretty good question, and something I did not think of when applying. I feel I would take a little time into being prepared in the aspect of taking my time and not shooting before asking questions, but if that's what it takes then I will start doing that to make it more enjoyable for new players along with regulars. I do feel like I'm more lop-sided with killing people that are new VS people I've been talking to for the past couple of days and will be more willing into putting bullets into the newbie rather than goofing off with the regular

Alright to start this off, I didn't expect this application to come in but I'm glad you're taking an interest in joining the team!

I know you sometimes have a tendency to take things a little too far especially with that "High sus ___ " "KOS ___" in preround causing issues which you did mention you were warned for. It's a little concerning, and definitely not the kind of behavior we would want from people on the staff team. However, this is realistically the only concern that I have with you considering I have noticed a change in your behavior for the better since the warning was given.

You undoubtedly do know our rules and I feel like you would do well aside from the concern mentioned above. You're a funny guy and I do like your presence on our server. I'd just like to hear what you have to say on the issue stated above in a little more detail before I give you my final thoughts.

Yeah the time of that was pretty bad and I take full responsibility for it. I don't know why I started doing it, and the only reason it stayed for as long as it was because some other people were saying it, but I can't really blame them for that since I was saying it consistently and fueling it more and more. Not my best moment and I do regret it, which is why I am way more cautious when saying high sus if I even do call one, and stopped with saying the term KOS before the round started. I do know it wouldn't happen again while I'm playing on this server for the sake of everyone's enjoyment and sanity.

In my experiences with you on the server they have mostly been positive! You love to have a giggle and it was very evident during low pop times that you really do enjoy not just playing the game as intended, but playing around with the people on the server, which is a good skill to have! (death station shenanigans is the most recent experience of this). It is very important as a staff member to be able to make connections with people on the server and make them feel welcome because it draws them in and has them coming back. Places where they feel most welcome will always stick. This is where a slight concern with your application is flagged for me.

You mentioned that " I get along with people if they're not being hissy or throwing tantrums". As a staff memeber you are going to be exposed to lots of different people and often times there will be high stress situations where a player may become incessant with comments about a report they placed about being RDMed or "whining" that they are being punished unfairly (because they don't know/understand the rules). If you as a person struggle with getting a long with people who you would consider "throwing tantrums" how do you think you will handle the pressure of being a staff member appropiately? Ignoring those people is obviously not an option as a staff member because we are required to take care of the server as a whole, so I would love to know how you would handle that. Do you think you really have the patience for that sort of responsilibity? It is a lot to take on and sometimes that means not prioritising your fun and instead taking the time to use a kill bind and taking the time to msg the person or direct them to the rules to help with their understanding. Will you have the time for them if you already struggle with getting along with them as a member of the community because they come across as "whiney" etc.?

My wording is different from what I would normally use for that statement, so it does seem like I don't have a tolerance for "tantrums/ questioning the consequence", I didn't mean for it to be like that, I meant for it to seem like the person Im talking about whos being hissy is being an ass to people for no reason. But to answer the question, I wouldn't have an issue with players questioning the rules a bit, since I do sometimes as well, a reason I read the rules over again. I would give them the rule they're questioning and break it down for it to be easier to understand.

As you're aware, I previously warned you for the excessive 'high sus' callouts and preround koses, as well as harassment. At the time, I hadn't really paid much attention to your playstyle since usually when I hear someone call sus on someone else it goes completely in one ear and out the other. That play session ended with you reiterating a kos on your t buddy, which stood out to me and prompted me to review the rest of the session as well as previous recordings.

With that in mind, I have been really surprised by your response to the warning. You didn't argue with it, you just accepted the warning and stopped doing it. It's not just that either. Your responses here are indicative of your ability to accept constructive criticism and self reflect, which are important skills to have. I think it's important to acknowledge the effort you've made since then. That warning is still somewhat recent and still merits consideration within the context of your application, but you've pretty much handled it the best way you could have since then.

You're good at matching the energy of the server most of the time, and that generally can make for an enjoyable experience for everyone on the server. I do agree with some of the others that playing a bit less aggressively would be a good thing.

I haven't had enough interactions with you to get a good sense of your ability to deescalate situations, and that's one of the things I'm most curious about right now. You mentioned that you sometimes feel like you have trouble reading the room. In my experience, people who are talkative and good at matching the energy around them but sometimes misread the people around them often create friction unintentionally. With this in mind, I could potentially see scenarios where you might attempt to defuse a situation and rub someone the wrong way, making the situation worse instead. I'd love to have a better sense of your approach to deescalating situations, especially when the people you're talking with are unwilling to listen to you. Unfortunately, this isn't really the kind of thing that's easy for you to demonstrate over text, and opportunities to showcase your approach aren't going to come up very often prior to becoming a staff member. So instead I want to talk a little bit about our approach to staffing, so that you have an idea of what our expectations are for our staff members are in this regard. Our primary goal as staff members is to ensure that everyone on the server is having fun, and enforcing the rules is ancillary to achieving this goal. You may have noticed that we're sometimes relaxed about enforcing certain rules as it makes sense in keeping the server enjoyable. Similarly, the goal when explaining our actions to frustrated players is not to explain why we're correct, but rather to establish understanding and defuse tension. All of this is my very long winded and corporate way of saying that what I'm looking for you in this regard is the ability to consider the perspectives of other players while staffing and when communicating.

I have no questions for you right now. I wanted to write this feedback here to give you a sense of what our expectations are. Your history and reputation so far are a bit of a mixed bag, and I'd really like to see you continue to play with consideration to how you affect the enjoyment of others and the atmosphere of the server as you have been lately. I genuinely think that you have the makings of a good staff member. The ability to accept criticism is difficult to learn and goes a really long way. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where this application goes.

Unfortunately, due to a minor case of a university crisis, and the worst one for me yet, pigeon beat me to it.

You have the potential. However, your behaviour has been sometimes what I would call 'below standard' for staff members.
While I do have to acknowledge the nature of our current staff roster means the standard is quite a bit higher, it is still worth noting that staff across the board need to remain composed and vigilant to a degree under stress; additionally, staff have to frequently hold themselves to a standard above the ruleset in order to promote good interactions with the community.

When you display more of this, I am certain many of us will be willing to endorse it.
Fight on, komrade!

Surprisingly, I do enjoy seeing Kit on. It’s always a guaranteed fun time when he’s present, 10/10 guy :)
