Hello, everyone! My name is Michael, and I am writing this to officially submit my application for a Moderator position here on the Giant's Lair Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT) server. While some of you may have seen me in-game, I wanted to take this opportunity to properly introduce myself, give you a look into who I am outside of the server, and explain why my background makes me a strong candidate for the staff team.
I have always been a massive fan of Garry’s Mod. The fact that it originated as a humble mod for Half-Life 2 and evolved into one of the most versatile sandbox platforms in gaming history has always resonated with me. It represents exactly what I love about the digital world: the ability to take a foundation and build something entirely new and chaotic on top of it.
Who I Am: The Tech "Nerd"
To put it simply, I am a total technology nerd. My life revolves around the digital ecosystem, and I consider myself a lifelong student of "all things digital." I don't just enjoy using technology; I enjoy understanding how it works, taking it apart, and putting it back together.
- Coding & Software: I have a deep knowledge base in coding and software development. I love the logic and structure required to make a program run, and I enjoy the troubleshooting process—finding that one bug or line of code that solves the puzzle. This translates well to TTT, where logic and deduction are the name of the game.
- Hardware & 3D Printing: My interest isn't limited to the screen. I am heavily involved in hardware and 3D printing. There is something incredibly satisfying about taking a digital 3D design and forging it into a physical object. It requires patience, precision, and a steady hand—traits I believe are essential for a moderator when dealing with heated situations.
- Design & Creativity: I also have a passion for design. Whether it’s UI/UX or graphic design, I appreciate the aesthetics of how users interact with platforms. I believe a good community experience is designed, not accidental, and I want to help curate that experience here.
- The Bleeding Edge (Crypto & AI): I am constantly looking toward the future. I am actively involved in the cryptocurrency space and the rapidly evolving world of Artificial Intelligence. I love exploring how AI can be integrated into our daily workflows and how decentralized finance is changing the economy. Being on the cutting edge requires adaptability and an open mind, which helps me interact with a diverse range of players from all walks of life.
Why This Matters for Giant's Lair
You might ask, "That's cool, Michael, but what does 3D printing or AI have to do with staffing a TTT server?"
For me, it comes down to
problem-solving and
passion.
As someone who builds PCs, writes code, and navigates the complex world of crypto, I am used to diagnosing problems efficiently. When a server issue arises, or when players are disputing a rule break (RDM, ghosting, etc.), I approach the situation with the same analytical mindset I use when debugging software. I look at the facts, I analyze the logs (if available), and I make a decision based on logic rather than emotion.
I am applying because I want to bring this technical enthusiasm and level-headed demeanor to the Giant's Lair team. I want to help keep the server fun, fair, and technically sound for everyone involved.
Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction. I look forward to seeing you all in-game, identifying the Traitors, and hopefully serving the community as a Moderator.
Best regards,
Michael
