Pending Nerf Props/propkilling

We have begun to test nerfs many meta/top loadouts, I think it is more than fair to also try some nerfs/balancing to props in some way as they have been a top loadout even with the old AK, HK416, Colt existing, it was pretty close to even.

Some form of limit to more types of props picked up, adding DNA to the kills, more sounds when throwing, removing the ability for them to block bullets being shot at the person holding it, something to even out the field to the new changes.

We've brought this up many times, and my personal feelings are that this style of gameplay is just as "harmful" as frag grenades. They share a lot of similarities. So, this should have a look taken at it just as urgently.

Even if you disagree with that assessment, I think the objective point of view on this is it is absolutely a fair and valid point that if we are nerfing all of the things on the server that players have been using as a crutch that this gets nerfed too, otherwise it will just be better than everything else to a degree that is unhealthy.

I don't agree with nerfing the guns to begin with; it's a TTT server not R6S or CS. Would rather prefer they get buffed back than going around nerfing other shit. Personally prefer everything being broken than everything being OK or bad.

That being said, props definitely need to have DNA traces regardless and perhaps the removal of bullet blocking too
 
+1 to DNA, if it can be tracked in damage logs, there's no reason they shouldn't have DNA

+1 to audio queues

-1 to props not blocking bullets

I think the hardest part with propkilling is the rules around when it becomes killable. Why it's so aggravating to people to be on the receiving end is that you aren't allowed to kill until a prop has been flung at a damaging speed... And once that happens you are typically already dead

But on the other hand, propkilling is entertaining


Honestly I feel like there is a balancing issue in general which has lead to propkilling being so popular. I'm not the best propkiller but I find myself typically picking up props when I can to kill, and that's because the guns just all feel so off. I highly disagree with the nerfs that have happened to the extent they were because it seems like it's only thrown the balance off even more. Yes, some guns should be slightly nerfed but none should be nerfed into the ground where they are just as useless as the others that nobody ever uses.

I think ammo scarcity is another thing that is kinda lame, weapons, ammo and common grenades (incind, discombob) should spawn more often

Slightly off topic but I vastly agree with this sentiment. I will say though we are getting feedback on gun balance, but I personally think that's better solved by buffing the guns readily available to all players rather than focusing on nerfing the stuff everyone likes to use. Right now NOBODY is happy rather than just some people.

My only issue with props is if we are nerfing guns then they become way too powerful, if we instead buff the weak guns I don't think we need to nerf props at all.

It's 100% fair to not do all 3 at once and I'm not suggesting all 3 or multiple at once I'm just suggesting adding some counter play that is possibly a combo of these or maybe some others

I mean, I think that DNA and audio are both fine, if there were an audio queue for when a prop was thrown at high velocity that would be a good indicator for when someone can be killed for it... granted on the other hand the problem with that is someone throwing a prop and damaging someone, but it wasnt high velocity so the audio que didnt trigger and the guy goes "it didnt play the audio its not killable!!!!!"

Isn't the nerf to guns temporary/trying out during the current weapon balance? I agree changes to prop killing need to happen- I would love to see DNA added to the kills, but I don't understand the premise here.

Correct, although that wasnt made clear when I did make this post, as such i edited the post, and either way I think it would be more than fair to try nerfs to props/propkilling as well.
