Hello!
Recently, I've been diving into past Yu-Gi-Oh! formats, and I was wondering if there would be interest if I were to host one of the following tournaments:
2005 Goat Format
A classic format that has a slower pace gameplay-wise, centered around some of the same core classic spells like Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Delinquent Duo, Metamorphosis, and Scapegoat. Teaches you resource management in this game. You will see cards that you may have seen in the old anime playable in this format.
More about the format and cardpool here, as well as a wide variety of deck builds that people either played back in the day or discovered after the fact through online tournaments:
2010 Edison Format
For all you Synchro lovers! This format is diverse, a lot of very different decks are playable. Deeper card pool than Goat, but its complexity still is not nearly the level of modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Still has the kind of classic Yu-Gi-Oh feel. You still have to respect Spells/Traps, it rewards creative deck building, and a lot of decks are at/around the same power level leading to fun interactive games.
More on Edison including some lists that are performing at ongoing tournaments:
I have enough experience with this game overall to be the judge as well as the host if any ruling questions come up in the event. At this point, I'm gauging interest, I'd be down to teach/play some games with people that are interested in learning the format/game. If there are enough interested parties, I would love to host a bracket style double elimination tournament with prizing if there are enough people, in which case, I will create a separate thread for that for people to register.
Duels will be hosted on https://www.duelingbook.com/
If any of this interests you, or you have interest in other formats aside from these 2 formats, reply below. I'm open to suggestions. Example, I'm a 2014/2015 enthusiast. Hence my name. IYKYK.
