1. Do you meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread?
Yes
2. Why do you want to join the Giants Lair staff team?
I believe I would provide strong value to the team in many core areas. My extensive experience in this exact role, at all levels of the hierarchy, means I have encountered just about every type of situation that would arise internally within a staff team and externally when dealing with players. On top of that, I have developed a great network of friends and general knowledge about the game. If you have a question, I can almost certainly provide you with the answer, and if not, I can point you to where you would find it or someone who would know.
3. What skills or experiences do you bring to the team?
(e.g., past staffing, conflict resolution, technical knowledge, etc.)
All 3.
1. I would hope that if anyone qualifies for past staffing experience, it would be me
2. Answered below in more detail, but the extensive experience I have in staffing has made me incredibly well-rounded in dealing with conflict.
3. Aside from deep game knowledge, I do software engineering for a major automaker, so I am proficient in the coding aspect. I've hosted a few (non-GMOD) servers myself, so I also have some experience in dealing with general server issues.
4. How active are you across our platforms (GMod, Discord, Forums)?
Pretty active on all 3.
5. How much time can you realistically dedicate to staffing per week?
Conservatively, maybe something in the realm of 8 hours a week. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more, though.
6. How well do you handle pressure, criticism, or heated situations?
As mentioned above, I've seen it all. I used to be relatively hot-headed and impulsive in my earlier days of staffing, but with age and experience, I have gained the composure to deal with conflict appropriately. Being a mediator is a honed skill, and while I wouldn't list it as a strength, I have no issues resolving conflict. I assume the criticism mentioned here is akin to name-calling and disgruntled players letting out their frustration. I have no issues talking with someone over criticisms if it's leveled in good faith, but bad faith criticisms, I have no problem just ignoring.
7. How would you describe your conflict resolution style?
I would hesitate to call myself assertive, as I typically have an almost laissez-faire style of staffing, but I am well aware when things have crossed the line and handle things accordingly. De-escalation at all costs, I typically try as hard as I can to find solutions that don't result in a ban, but if need be, I don't mind sending people to the shadow realm.
8. Are you familiar with the TTT server rules and general community standards?
Yes, I would certainly have to brush up on the more niche rules, but overall, I have a good compass on what is cool and not.
9. What does your punishment history (if any) look like on our servers?
Be honest — transparency is appreciated.
None, I have never even received a slay to my recollection.
10. What is your reputation like within the community?
Can you name any reputable players or staff who would vouch for you?
I would like to think it's pretty good. I obviously can't speak for people, but I've had no issues with anyone in the time I've been here. As for people who might vouch for me, I hate to call anyone out lol, but Sure Lock, Arcana, Lync, primsa, Lordy, wink, Zyp, and CelDamage would probably be the people off the current staff roster I have seen most frequently in-game.
Thanks for reading. Please post any questions, and I'll try to get back promptly
