What's the hold up?
Everyone relevant to the determination of whether to accept or deny the application at this time has made their opinion known either publicly, privately, or both.
Several members of the community have weighed in. I think the team has everything it needs to make a decision, one way or the other.
It is evident what the public perception is, it is evident what I intend to do, it is evident what problems there are, have been, or could be.
All that's missing is the decision.
I am in no rush, but similarly I see no point to holding off on a decision for reasons stated.
From a place of genuine interest, what benefits do you see coming from not making a decision, one way or the other? I'm open to a different perspective, but in mine I struggle to see a benefit that isn't better achieved by making a decision.
Hey so this is kinda crazy. This is so much more complicated than a standard app, and those normally stay open for at least a week or so. Patience, young padawan.
It is somewhat more complicated. Despite that complexity, all of leadership has weighed in already. Admins similarly have been part of the conversation, as have advisors.
As mentioned prior, I think the skepticism and apprehension this application received, is warranted.
But these have all been expressed by the parties that care to express them.
Which, in my view, means that only one things remains: For leadership to decide whether or not - and to what level - to add me to the Discord team.
Fun bonus fact: Most standard applications at Giant's Lair have been accepted within the first 72 hours of being posted, many of which were accepted within the first 36 hours. This applies across new blood and old faces equally.
Honestly I want to ditto this.
Siddo, as already mentioned before this was posted just 12 days after you resigned(again vompletely, including advisor role), I think that you would remember that many apps took extra time to deliberate when the former staff member resigned so recently, and I think this app is similar enough to be in that same boat. Not only that you still applied specifically for a lead role, and that does require extra deliberation as a whole too. Have patience friend.
Today brings this number to 19 days.
I do remember and I am well aware of this.
It is precisely why I said deny it if it is too soon. I do not mind.
If the concern is that it is too soon and my long-term investment is in question, deny it and tell me when to reapply. I do not mind.
If my "hubris" in applying for lead admin has poisoned this application and made it seem like an opportunistic grab for a high level position, deny it and tell me when to apply for mod. I do not mind.
I will accept any outcome without argument or hurt feelings.
With regard to applying specifically for a lead role, yes that absolutely requires deliberation. Leads have already expressed how they feel about this, both here and no doubt in discussions in other channels.
While I cannot see the inner workings of all the staff channels that I do not have access to, I have no doubt there have been deliberations, concerns, and skeptical remarks about myself or the application in admin, advisor, and lead channels. However, I have also explicitly said that even admin is a generous consideration. And that I am fine being put on the team as a moderator.
What deliberations do you believe still need to be done for a decision to be ripe?
I intend to earn lead on my own merit, regardless of where I start. I do not want a nepo role, I want to become lead by virtue of demonstrating that I am the person best suited for it.
I happen to believe that I am well-suited for it. If the team has others in mind for Discord admin or filling out the void left by anna, I have no complaints about this and would do my utmost to support that person in their role. So for clarity's sake: if y'all are eyeing someone else for being made discord admin or even comms lead, I support that wholeheartedly. I'm still going to be aiming to take their place if it ever becomes available.
