Why should you be considered for a moderator position?SGM (TTT and deathrun moderator)

1. Do you meet all the minimum requirements listed in the Requirements Thread?
If not, please explain which requirement(s) you don’t meet and why.
I do not have 20 hours because I have worked this week. I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week and I haven’t had my stretch off yet this week
2. Why do you want to join the Giants Lair staff team?
I miss the community aspect of TTT and Gmod in general. It has been 6-7 years since I was a regular on SGM and so much has changed in everyone’s lives. It has been refreshing to laugh with everyone again and play a game that is truly like riding a bike- you never forget how to. The nuances, the humor, the connection between individuals is something that has been lost at the scope of what Gmod allows to be created and I am ready to reinvest myself into that.
3. What skills or experiences do you bring to the team?
(e.g., past staffing, conflict resolution, technical knowledge, etc.)
I have past staffing experience and self taught lua coding for a few months in an attempt to create a community after SGM shut down. It was short lived as life changed quickly for me and the co owners (I moved out of state to college, etc) but while it was up it was pretty successful and active.
I am also a registered nurse who works in an emergency department. I have not only had extensive education on communication and conflict resolution through my schooling but I live it daily. I have to mitigate the emotions and technicalities of patients and family members, doctors, other nurses, etc in the context of a huge and convoluted system with many moving parts. To top it off, these patients are often experiencing intense physical pain, fear, or comorbid psychiatric conditions that make deescalation integral to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. Balancing all of that has taken time and experience, but it gives me an edge in being able to give credit to people and all that they have going on that is unspoken.
4. How active are you across our platforms (GMod, Discord, Forums)?
Provide a breakdown if possible.
I have been messaging in discord once or twice a day and I did hop on the server a few days in a row. But, as I’ve stated I have been working this week and don’t have 4 days off until tomorrow.
5. How much time can you realistically dedicate to staffing per week?
I can cluster my staffing hours to my days off, but can reasonably put in 2-8 hours a day 4x a week. On my days off I can also keep an eye on shout box and hop on as needed.
6. How well do you handle pressure, criticism, or heated situations?
I really don’t tend to be reactive to the pressure others put on me when things are tense. Again, I have to let a lot of water roll off my back due to my job, but it also has sort of always been my style to go with the flow. However, when mitigating two parties I feel it’s necessary to listen to both sides of the story and try to create a realistic solution and expectations going forward with a goal of enhancing both players’ experiences on the server. Emotions can run high, people can hold grudges- but I believe most people are reasonable and conflict stems from people having unaddressed needs or desires. Hearing them out and helping to empower them to create their own solutions has a better result most of the time than just ordering people around. That said, sometimes hard and fast boundaries are necessary to keep the server safe and nontoxic when people aren’t receptive to taking accountability and correcting themselves.
7. How would you describe your conflict resolution style?
I think I explained it pretty well above. I am calm, insightful and quick to recognize nuances in people and situations, but I am not afraid to speak up and tell people when enough is enough.
8. Are you familiar with the TTT server rules and general community standards?
Yes, I’ve reviewed them and the community standards are mostly common sense IMO. As for TTT specific rules I am familiar with their application to game specific scenarios/reports.
9. What does your punishment history (if any) look like on our servers?
I don’t believe I have ever been punished. At worst, maybe karma banned (it was warranted, I was probably rdming Sly)
10. What is your reputation like within the community?
I think many of the SGM people remember me. Sly, Husky, PandaWithAGun, Siddo, Cypher8, etc. I feel like overall I have good rapport with everyone.
If not, please explain which requirement(s) you don’t meet and why.
