How do you intend to make the server welcoming and bring new players in?

I have already brought a player into the community. I do spend a good amount of time in other communities for other games and drop hints to see if people are interested in the Minecraft server while trying my best to avoid outright advertisement in places it would put the community in a bad light. I am also interested in helping the staff feel the mood of the server and bring some consistency to the vision of the goals of the server as a whole. I have already dropped some suggestions and ideas but I'm very limited in my knowledge of what is or is not possible with Minecraft, I would like to grow that knowledge to be more useful to the community as a whole.
