It was when Josh RDM'd you and you said "Let today be known as go fuck yourself josh day", and left the discord. I'm not sure if that helps your memory here, I honestly had to look it back up because I mostly forgotten as well. If you want to expand in this with the refresher, I think some would appreciate it.
Oh man, I think that would've been '21 or '22? Yeah it was just a day of targeting if I recall correctly, and I decided to bounce. Josh and I made up after it and I believe I was even still staff under him during a later tenure. That does kinda go into an answer to the following question:
How do you feel about the vibes of this community compared to former iterations you participated in?
In AHG the community often times felt... antagonistic. And I mean the community as a whole, staff included (if not especially). There was a remarkable amount of targeting of community members to the point that they would leave, and a lot of behaviors were allowed and encouraged that overall just gave rise to the antagonistic feel. It had a very "cliquey" vibe that led to some serious divisions in the community and, in my opinion, led to its eventual collapse. A lot more to it on the latter point, but that's a long long story. I've been watching the server here for a little while now to gauge its vibe and that is something I feel is specifically different. It is a lot more chill of an environment. A lot more welcoming. It's why I decided to actually come back as opposed to just hopping on the server every so often. It is a server that feels like it leans more on positives than negatives.
I'm going to have to -1 this application. Although you are a very kind person, and I think you have a good grasp of the rules. I seem to find you in a TON of reports when you're online consisting of discomb/combobulator RDMs on the server. Though they may be forgiven, it sure is hard to see someone who should have the rules down, keep breaking them.
I don’t want to come across as anyone dogpiling on you. The statements made and those that will be made are just some thing that we’ve noticed and would like some clarification on.
I want to second floofy’s post. You’ve been around for a long while and you know the rules fairly well (they haven’t changed much compared to AHG). You started getting slay after slay beginning at the end of November and your most recent two were today. You have 36 hours of playtime and 33 slays. That’s about a slay every other map for various things but mostly consisting of purposeful RDM either through prop killing or discombob/combob kills.
It’s difficult for me to lean towards giving you a +1 when I know you know the rules and yet you continue to break them. How confident are you that this will stop once you become a moderator? What would your next step be to instill that trust in the staff team?
Hey Park Ranger,
I as well don't mean to "dogpile" but would like to piggyback off of Easy Dub/Floofy's comments above.
With the 33 slays, 13 of them alongside the Mass RDM ban are from this week alone, roughly 26 of those slays are within the last month.
I am most curious on the Inno on D kills more than anything, as it would appear there have been 2 instances of slays with that reasoning, one recently and one a bit further back. As well as the excessive use of random grenades as an innocent.
Staff are held on a higher standard than the average player, how do you feel you would navigate these expectations if you were to be given the opportunity to moderate.
While I am leaning towards a negative rating at this moment in time, I am curious to see how you respond to previous posts and potentially play more on the server with you prior to giving a positive or negative rating.
NEUTRAL RATING
But like actually I think you just need to calm down on rdm/ getting reported etc and you'd be fine from my experience
I Trust you
I trust your knowledge, and that your behaviour as staff & after will consist of less insalubrious and flippant RDM.
You will have to show this to other staff, and keep the in jokes to those in on the joke
+1
I'm unaware of what happened with your previous tenures on past iterations of the community, so my opinion is strictly based on what I've seen having played quite extensively with you.
Personally, I agree with your assessment of yourself, and I think you are a fun player and generally fit the vibes of the server quite well. Those are very good traits to have as a staff member because those traits are what retains and grows our player base. However, I am also inclined to agree with some previous comments made about your punishment history - I see your name far too much on valid reports whenever I'm on, whether they're forgiven/unforgiven, far more than a potential staff member should be. It doesn't reflect positively on us if staff are frequently showing up in valid RDM reports.
With that being said - I genuinely believe that, with some tightening up in this area, you have the makings to be a good staff member.
I am going to remain neutral for now, but this can be subject to change.
I appreciate the feedback from all, and I do take it to heart. Any time that I've been staff I tone down the more... reckless behavior. The best answer I can give is that I won't play recklessly. Or, to quote
@Lorcifer, I will keep the in jokes to those in on the joke. As for the specific past RDMs, for the most part it really is just getting carried away with the combobulator. It is too fun and chaotic of a weapon.
How do you feel about the removal of damage from Spectator Prop Possession?
Horrendous. Horrible change. Will personally sign another letter to
@Agennon about it.
+1 (what day is this, I need to celebrate?)
September 21st
I don't really have much to add here- I can add a bunch of comments about some issues that there were over at AHG- but I do think that there were more positives despite some disagreements on leniency and some of the outbursts. You and I somehow have avoided much interactions during your time here, so I appreciate the explanation you gave here, and I hope everything is going better.
Buy me a beer sometime, I'll regale you with stories from the trenches, but overall I am doing better.
And as far as how my last tenure ended...
What can I say? it was a wild last day. Everyone was doing everything. Everyone was trainfucked, slain, gagged, rdmed. Good times.
Oh and even a +1 from someone I once banned for 8 weeks for exploiting:
+1 world was a better place with the ogs still around
