Well, after writing easily multiple of 10s of thousands of words that will never get posted of my anger, disappointment, second hand embarrassment, and just utter shock at the decisions that were made for this community, And unfortunately now, my plan of resigning on the 1 year anniversary well, ngl fuck that it's being posted today but I'm not editing that post anymore, I wrote out too much and have Things to add and I just dont give a fuck to change what was already written.
Well it was bound to happen at some point, I truthfully did try to push this back as far as I could, but I can't hide in the delusion there will be a fix for this all, that there is a future that I will care enough to staff or try to help right or steer the ship that is GL.
I do want to emphasize how much of an embarrassment this should be. GL was a hit, it hit all the nostalgia points right where it needed to, got people who haven't played Garry's mod or ttt in a decade back on and reconnecting with each other. You got a very solid base in AHG code for the ttt servers as well as some absolutely elite devs to fix it up and update it. We had what might have honestly added up to I believe well over a century of staffing, leadership, and community involvement experience from people actively giving advice and participating in the community at a high level, but GL has honestly sputtered to nothing due to bad decisions, a complete inability to listen and absurd amounts of holier-than-thou and bad faith arguments from those at the highest level. It should be embarrassing to miss this much of a free layup of a community.
As of when this is posted, I will have hit 1 year as a staff member, quite literally 3x my previous times as staff during sgm combined. I got to reconnect and meet amazing people, I got to build and lead an awesome mod team, and most of all I got to call bullshit out whenever I could and had the energy and time to. It might be a bit ironic that the guy with the Destiny reference for his staff team name is leaving just ~2 weeks after Destiny 2 got its EoS final update, but man I got so much to do there, and honestly I think I can finally uninstall Garry's mod for the final time in my life hopefully, the amount of stress, drama with friends, and absolutely heinous people I've had to deal with through this game is absurd. Thank you all, my discord steam and such are always open, but it's time for me to zip on out of here (staffing wise at least)
Honestly, this shit has been disgustingly draining, and I hope anyone further involving themselves here takes a second thought at that.
