Pending Raise default sv_airaccelerate to 100 or 1000

The default sv_airaccelerate of 10 is extremely low and makes air control/airstrafing incredibly difficult, and, honestly, not fun. Could we increase the default value to 1000 or, if that is considered too high, 100? As it is now, air movement is pretty awful, and it makes the grapple hook much less useful.

For context, prior to a recent update the Flying Scoutsman fun round would set sv_airaccelerate to 1000 from 10 after the round was over (only reset on server restart), so the server has effectively already been running with 1000 since its opening.

This has been an ongoing issue, it should be reset to 1000 as soon as a dev can hop on, we haven't ironed out why it keeps getting reverted

small necro and im sorry to be cringe but i actually prefer the default setting as with insane numbers like 100 or 1000 all airstrafing is so trivial that you feel like a drone. Movement in this game in itself is already extremely powerful (mostly due to the hit registration issues), so I don't really feel the need to trivialize it. I think saying that air strafing is "extremely difficult" with the default settings is a massive exaggeration.

In addition it buffs bhopping giga hard (You gain speed FAR more easily) which im not sure if I like because I get flashbacks to AHG (i think) when people were able to limit their frames and just use simple binds to bhop infinitely (this was fucking cringe).

It's hardly an exaggeration, much less a "massive" one. Your range of right/left movement is minimal compared to a server with an sv_airaccel value of 100+. Turns I would normally take just fine, I end up sailing off straight forward, only slightly turned instead.

Not wanting this because you think movement breaks the hit registration is a poor reason, because you can already break the hit registration in all the same ways by simply spamming jump-crouch (which a fair number of people do). This argument should be leveled at the hit registration and not the movement. Going down a path of limiting movement is extremely lame. Better hit registrations exist for TTT. This is a problem that can be solved without taking away from the player.

The players who are at the caliber of capping fps to bhop better are doing so solely to have fun. They basically cannot shoot back at you while doing this (try playing the game at 33.33... fps and tell me how it feels). This seems more like an unwillingness to adapt your own playstyle (there's a whole host of T weapons that can solve these people for you) and, in response, just asking for it to be removed. I can see how it would be frustrating to encounter for the first time, but it's by no means some unsolvable problem; get creative.

I personally love just hopping around the map on my Inno rounds because it's something fun to do while passing the time. It's immediately noticeable how kneecapped bhopping is here.

Maybe its a getting used to thing because I have pretty much all of my 4000 hours of this game on the default air acceleration settings and never thought that I was "losing" anything. Its very easy to airstrafe into ladders on dolls for example from weird angles once you get the hang of it.

Also I don't agree with allowing bhopping to be easy because the T's already lose majority of rounds on this server (Statistics wise) and allowing innos to make themselves 10 times harder to get the jump on through allowing easy incredible speeds through bhops (Which by the way can easily be turned into a toggle) just makes the game so much more obnoxious to play.

Making this change doesn't make bhopping "easy". It still requires the same amount of skill that it does currently on the server; the only difference is how much maneuverability you have. With more maneuverability comes the ability to pick up more speed, but making this change would not turn anyone into a bhopper overnight.

As for the stats page, I don't trust it at all. Take a look at my own stats page, for example.

My T wins and losses do not add up to my total T rounds (62 + 76 = 141... not 220).

Doing the math on my KD comes out wrong as well, (293+897+67)/((649-234) + (141-95) + (92-40)) yields 2.45 (this is using the corrected number of T rounds I've played)
Even using the incorrect number of total T rounds I've played (220), this comes out to 2.12... so I'm not sure where this 2.26 value comes from.

Not to mention the WR in the bottom left is the same for every person, a constant 62.1% always.

I can't verify how many rounds I've played/survived, people I've killed, etc, but if the metrics I can calculate are already this far off, I'd argue the rest of the data can be tossed as well.

before this server came back i played on another like this and i couldnt tell you how fucking annoying it was to have 1 loser bhopping hyperspeed around the map while 3 Ts chase them around. so stupid and boring. this change really only serves to benefit the most annoying type of person in this game

Idk when the devs fixed the flying scoutsman glitch but whatever it's been on the past week seems perfectly fine to me. Bhopping can give you a great advantage in a lot of situations, so I think it should be something that takes practice to do consistently.

im 50/50 on this because I do agree I am not a fan of the megaspeed bhoppers, but coming from a server that had the airaccel I can say it definitely makes a difference even if you arent a bhopper

as "bhopping loser" i think while the high aa is a lot of fun for ME to abuse i have understood it is anti fun for the people trying to shoot you as you go around on nuketown upon that realization (having to fight Nura on lego) i used fps_max way less i still think the high aa was overtuned though as i could just really move my mouse anyway i wanted and go really fast. When fighting crouch jumpers i would just bhop around spinning inbetween shots instead of crouch jumping it was very nice. I say up it though, not something like 1000 but just up it from 10. I think taking this game as serious pvp is pretty ridiculous. https://streamable.com/9veg5l https://streamable.com/fgx6lm

Piggy backing off of this. this game is supposed to be goofy, and not to be taken that serious as a hardcore pvp quake match. Right now not alot of people are effectively bhopping to be an issue, just to bhop and vibe and to get to point A to B a bit faster. (Grapple hook exists :D)
Raise it to make it "easier" for common players and experience players to bhop and you'll see this server die out real quick with how sweaty it will get.
