Why should you be considered for a moderator position?Hello y'all. I said I wasn't gonna do this but here I am.
A lot of you on the staff team probably already know me from previous servers. I've been a member of the SGM/SGM Adjacent servers for a long time, nearly a decade. I know the rules and protocols well and I overall think it is the definitive way to play this game, in fact it may be the only way I know how to play it.
My main goal in joining is to have fun with old friends that I've had over the years. I would like to be part of a community again after being away for so long, especially one with so many people that I've known, some of you for around a decade now. I feel like I could really make my mark here, and truly be a positive light in this place and give back to this community.
My punishment history is near non-existent spanning across multiple servers... but I did get demoted during my first term of Mod for a reason that was immature and quite honestly a huge mistake that is not reflective of who I am as a person, and I'm more than open to talking about it if you would like me to. It never stopped people from bringing me back onto the team in the past.
I can dedicate likely around 10 hours a week to this game easily, and if I can't I'll likely try to make up the difference somehow. At my peak though, I pulled 35-40 hours a week in my time as a Mod at SGM. I work a full time job and I'm in a band that's starting to gain traction now though so while there may be some irl stuff that comes up, I will still make time.
I am mainly active on the Discord and the server itself, my forum presence right now is not great at the moment, but that can change. I meet all the requirements in the requirements thread.
But what do I have to offer?
- I'm great under pressure. I work in a high stress customer service job and I thrive there. My first staffing gig was as an EU staff member on SGM around 2015 when it was only EU Vanilla, which as some of you know was a very notoriously toxic server, and then eventually EU 2. I believe I was well liked there, I still have a few people that recognize me from my days there every now and then.
- I strive to improve always, so I welcome criticism no matter what it is.
- I'm excellent at conflict resolution. I approach things from a logical and understanding perspective. I can put myself into other people's shoes fairly easily while being able to communicate what needs to happen in a situation. Heated situations don't bother me and I don't let things escalate.
- I'm personable and try to be friendly with everyone, I'll always try to find something to talk with people about and engage with them. However, I can be firm if I need to be.
- I've got a genuine passion for this game, no matter how many times I pull away from it, I always come back to it.
- I'm creatively funny (at least I think so), but still professional at the same time. I never take things too far.
- I feel like I have a good reputation among staff and regulars alike.
As for staff that would recommend me, there are actually too many of you to list so I'd like to thank everyone who has been encouraging me to apply, and to everyone who has read this so far. Sorry it's not in the numbered format, but I think this gets the point across well.
