I do not have the same in-depth knowledge of the faith in Judaism, even with the overlap of the old testament and the Torah, I know there is a lot of additional teachings and rabbinic literature, which frankly I have never read nor studied. But I imagine Judaism in many ways mirror the same overarching tenets, including the ten commandments. Such as the tenth, to not covet what belongs to another. Would it be against the Jewish faith to tell another that they have acted against the will of God, should you discover that they have broken one of the ten commandments? Or, for instance, Leviticus 19:18 says that you must not bear a grudge or seek revenge against your neighbour, but love them as yourself.
Now, if we're being very critical and also taking into account the context at the time, this (Lev 19:18) likely refers to "your people" in the sense of other Jews. However, Leviticus 19:33-34 commands that you equally love the stranger as your neighbour, for Jews too were once strangers in a foreign land.

All of which is to say, even if we go by the word of God in scripture, Anna's comment is not hateful - it is accurate and a warranted rebuke of someone's actions being sinful against their neighbour.

If Robert is such a bad guy, surely you could attack the things he has done rather than the god he worships or the way he chooses to worship them. It's not anyones place to neg someone over their religion.

It is honestly so reassuring to see this type of unkind and mean behavior being shown so openly in Giants Lair. From stupid comments about Jews, to lead admins saying that all relationships are transctional or some other psychotic thing, to other lead admins insulting community members for being a bad christian. One lead even covered up a Minecraft developer deleting a player land claim out of anger or something. All this toxic bullshit comes straight from the top.

I'm just glad y'all are openly toxic now so the new people can see it all and stay far away from here.

Typical metrics-driven MBA-educated yokel mentality. You fixate on things that are easy to quantify in a little dashboard (playtime), because they are easy to quantify. But in doing so, you completely miss the heart and soul of the problem, and then act surprised when things don't go your way even though the number went up.

You claim that your diaper tantrum was the result of Anna's promotion, but I'd frame it the opposite way. One of the biggest reasons Anna got promoted was because she took the time to truly connect with others as people, not just talking to whatever personas we have when playing TTT. This might blow your mind, but by doing so, she established trust that she wouldn't crash out if she were passed up, which made her a more appealing candidate. You, on the other hand, had displayed some tendencies to get frustrated during discussions and also engage in some... exotic political commentary.

More playtime past a certain point (really probably around 20 hours biweekly) has such diminishing returns for an admin candidate because 1) it means you're probably closer to burnout, so a lead will have you for less time and 2) your goal as an admin is to increase coverage by coaching several people under you.

This is just where we're going to have to disagree. As mentioned, criticism of behaviour is entirely in line with scripture.
You seem to hold as a core value that one's faith or actions as a believer must never be criticized in any capacity, for it is wrong to do so.
I hold as a core value that all actions, principles, values, and ideals must hold up under scrutiny.

It is why I strive to argue from a place of principle, a place of truth, that can be proven false. I don't believe myself to always be right, I don't believe myself to know everything or even much at all. Sometimes I get things wrong. That's why I try to explain where I'm coming from, to argue from a position where others can point out that I'm wrong. And I willingly, openly accept alternative ideas as having merit, even if I disagree with them. I did it in this very thread before and apologized for my own mistakes when I realized them. Because I listened to what others were saying and understood that while I may have a point, there's also other things that merit this thread existing or people saying what they've said.

To me, it feels like you're asserting points entirely from a place of emotional truth. I cannot deny you your emotions, nor would I ever wish to - they are rightfully yours. To me, it seems like you believe so many people here to be toxic at their core, that there are people who are genuinely hateful or mean-spirited at the highest level of staff, and among the most well-liked people in the community. That could absolutely be true, but that is simply not the world I see. What you say, it doesn't resonate with my emotional truth. The assertion that it is wrong must necessarily be demonstrably true. You haven't shown that in any way. You have asserted that it is wrong, because it is wrong, because you think it's wrong. You've not yet shown the reason it is wrong, you've simply said it is so.
That isn't something anyone can have an honest conversation with - because the well is so thoroughly poisoned by the emotional truth underpinning your argument. If I speak against your opinion, it is easy to paint my actions as defending bigotry, defending hateful vitriol. After all, I am defending something that in your emotional truth is indefensible. Whereas my emotional truth is that I think it's both important, healthy, and good, that religion not be sanctified beyond mention. One of the reasons for this is so that people can point out when others may have have lost their way in faith.

According to the Bible, God gave us the freedom to choose, the free will. Along with that freedom comes the necessity of freedom of thought. Freedom to disseminate, critique, doubt, question, argue against, be skeptical of, and otherwise curious about the nature of our world. About faith. About ideals. Really, about everything. Faith is not, nor should it ever be, beyond mention. Two things can be true at the same time. Faith is not beyond reproach. And equally, we all have the right to believe, to have faith.
What has been said in regards to faith here by other people has not been so unkind, nor so uncouth, that it warrants being called toxic. If you cannot exist in a space where religion might be the subject of criticism or where scripture might be challenged, then... yeah. That's okay, but this is probably a space where you're going to feel victimized or ultimately victimize yourself then. I don't think we should ban discussions on the subject of faith, the mention of faith, or critiques against someone that relate to faith. I fundamentally don't think the world is a better place for that, nor that it would make Giant's Lair a better place to do so. I disagree with your ideal that it is fundamentally wrong to do so.

So, like, frankly... If you truly believe the space to be so toxic, I would encourage you to leave it. I say that from a place of compassion. I know from myself how much it can wreck my mental health to linger in a space that feels suffocating and harmful to me. Something I've sadly had ample experience with. So with truly, genuinely, all the love I have: whether this place is toxic in essence or only toxic for you, the best gift you can give yourself is to prioritize your own mental health and leave when a space feels this way to you. I promise you that it will give you so much peace of mind in a week's time. Of course, though it goes without saying I will be very explicit: you are welcome here if you wish to be here.

Consider it food for thought, I'll probably dip from continuing this line of conversation after this post <3

There's been some stuff thrown your way that wasn't cool. There's also been plenty thrown around by yourself that wasn't cool either, and some of that resulted in consequences that shouldn't exactly come as a surprise.

If the community is really as terrible as you make it out to be, you've become one of its most dedicated regulars participating in these threads every go around the sun. Most people who hate a place eventually move on. You seem determined to keep buying tickets to the same show just so you can complain about the ending.

Ryan, everytime the weekly "doom post thread" comes out, you hop in simply to say how bigoted and bad giants lair is. for example, in this thread. u said "Giant's Lair is one of the most bigoted and hateful places I have ever had the displeasure of existing in." or "Honestly the replies to this thread, and others, should be enough to tell anyone that this community is just made up of bullies."
It feels like your just intervening to make everyone angrier, and pull out something we absolutly dont need.
some people already said this, but if this place is as bad as you say it is, just leave.

My issue with Ryan’s perspective isn’t even that he has it. If you truly feel this place, a quite accepting and progressive space, is one of the worst you’ve been in, then you must not exist in the real world often or you’re just exaggerating badly. Hatred and bigotry doesn’t fly here, and the examples and context with which he has used to call numerous of us bigots or haters of some kind are always such a stretch that it has become a “boy who cried wolf” situation. It gets to be quite bizarre.
 
Some of y'all... confuse me. Some people here are obviously just looking for some sort of path to the future of this place, and want to see this place return back to how it was before everything blew up (love ya Cel, your concerns are absolutely valid).

But some of y'all obviously do not give a fuck if this place lives, or very clearly wants to see it burn.

If I said goodbye to this place with a big ass fourm post, I'm fucking out, gone. Not stirring up drama in every drama thread, or trying to get a moderator tarred and feathered over some minecraft building that was returned with additional bonuses ("I don't want puuuublic humiliation for them, I just want them to be named publicly and demoted"). Honestly reminds me of Drake saying he's over Rihanna, despite every time he disses Rocky, it's mostly about her. Hell, reminds me of Rick Ross, Joe Budden, and Akademiks trying to dig for drama too, to paint the rest of y'all a clear picture.

If I'm trying to paint someone as a bigot, I'm going to be veryyy careful about my own words to make me look like a saint. What I'm not gonna do is go "ahhhh, you picked her because you're just a simp." That's weird. You seem like your stream history consists of Asmongold and Adin Ross. It's very clear that an admin promotion was never coming that way. Why do you even need that big of an ego for fucking Garry's Mod? It's not even CS, a much more relevant game, save the ego trip for when that game server launches.

Some of y'all clearly care, salute to Cooldude for trying to always promote peace, Siddo, you tried your best to calm the storm, Saturn and Ari, y'all bought actual data and stats which is always helpful (if someone else did too, love to you too, I just forgor 💀). Cel, once again, your concerns are valid, and I feel you when you say you just want to feel listened to. There's a bunch of leads, admins, mods and shit who were or are clearly doing their best to try to fix what's left, I'm... too lazy to list everyone out but y'all know, I've talked to a lot of you.

Agennon, I've got nothing really to say to you, not out of anything mean, I've just been removed from this place emotionally for a while, so it's really not my place to speak on the issues. I just hope your current trips are doing you well, helping you figure out what you want in life, and with this place. A lot of people aren't quite mad, but just care a lot of about this place and the people that have been brought together here.

And obviously a lot of y'all are realllllly fucking passionate.

You weren't active unless you were causing problems and needed to make up for it somehow.
