I thrown a couple of these directly at Espurr and then remembered the forums are a thing

1. A command that's possible to activate during a war (like /raid landname) that saves the state of somebody's land, and then for like 10 minutes or something disables all protection flags for a full scale raid with TNT and such, and then when time is up kicks the raiders out and reverts the land so people's difficult to set up or complicated farms/builds are safe but can still have a full war experience.
2. See above mechanics but make it last for the entire war, basically if you mess up someone's base/supply lines enough it can force them to surrender early.

  • Hours or days of work won't be permanently erased
  • Players can't just hide in their house during an entire war

A couple of considerations:
  • Animals/Villagers - I have no idea how rollbacks affect them, preferably they come back and people don't have to restart their farms/trading halls
  • Chests - Losing crazy rare items could be devastating, but rolling them back could lead to dupes if items are taken in/out during the raid, perhaps make them immune to explosions and/or raiding
  • Potentially make the rollback optional, can be a individually set by each side, or maybe a mutual thing where both have to agree to potential devastation of their lands
  • Potential damage to the wilderness surrounding a base (though that could lead to cool marks of history)
3. A bit different from above, a large area on the server reserved for warring factions. A piece of bedrock in the middle. The goal can be something like most consecutive time that a faction has their banner place on the bedrock, or whoever has it at the end of x days. Make the time to teleport to the location a bit long so if one faction manages to capture that have a bit of time to set up a small defense if the other faction is on.
  • More goal-oriented back and forth gameplay
  • Everyone's lands/builds are safe
  • Not participating in the war is more punishing
Considerations:
  • Limits number on concurrent wars across the server
  • Less possibility for history to leave its mark on the landscape

I had a thought to use money in order to achieve rollbacks, and the cost would scale based on damage + materials. This might help make things more permanent while also giving value to the currency the higher you go (hundreds of millions would give a good buffer, for instance).
