We got a lot of fun ideas on our MC server. Community, World Building, War, Griefing, Creativity, Dungeon Diving, Surviving, Economic Thriving, and more are all present currently, and the balance is trying to be struck to make everyone happy. When we start pushing the community towards growth via voting/promotion, I really think we should really take a deep look at our views and vibes and align them with a philosophy a new player would expect based off potential advertisement tags:
Giants Lair MC [Semi-Vanilla] {SMP} {World Building} {Dungeons}
Diving through worldbuilding servers, there's a lot we have missing that makes a new player may expect:
Diving through these, we actually qualify closer to semi anarchy than we think. We differ on
We are actually really in line with other servers who advertise communities already. We differ on
With what I know right, I would push us towards marketing our server as:
Giants Lair MC [Semi-Anarchy SMP] {Story-Driven} {Dungeons} {Economy}
Things I would advocate us adopting/changing
Giants Lair MC [Semi-Vanilla] {SMP} {World Building} {Dungeons}
Diving through worldbuilding servers, there's a lot we have missing that makes a new player may expect:
- No clan tags/faction tags/town tags near players names in chat
- Some world building servers utilize race/class plugins to really differentiate people's skills and set them apart in the economy/combat
- Lots of world building communities don't tolerate "Out of Roleplay" griefing, some outright ban it regardless.
- TP Restrictions
- A faction you can't attack of peaceful players influencing the economy doesn't fit either.
Diving through these, we actually qualify closer to semi anarchy than we think. We differ on
- Our rollback roles. Lots of semi-anarchy servers have a clause of " random griefing with no story or purpose gets rolled back to protect long-term SMP narratives.". No punishments issued, just punishes the sillyness of out of war griefing
- Land claims are not traditionally an anarchy thing, but they can kept as is/limited to fewer chunks to really encourage tactical use of the system
- "Peaceful players" may not fit into the narrative of a server like this.
- TP Restrictions
We are actually really in line with other servers who advertise communities already. We differ on
- Griefing rules. Lots of economy driven servers don't tolerate griefing, wars or not.
- Insiding rules, lots of economy servers don't allow it.
- PVP Focus is a lot less; lots of economy servers require it to be consentual.
With what I know right, I would push us towards marketing our server as:
Giants Lair MC [Semi-Anarchy SMP] {Story-Driven} {Dungeons} {Economy}
Things I would advocate us adopting/changing
- Discourage random griefing by allowing staff to rollback non narrative actions, No punishments, just rollbacks.
- Adopting Clan Tags/Town tags in chat for players
- Avoiding adding entirely peaceful players to the server if they can interact or influence the economy; let them exist within a narrative, not outside of it.
- Consider TP restrictions.
