Pending Allow to Farm XP (Combat) by Using Mob Farms

So from what I understand, the mobs that spawn from mob spawners that a player obtains does not provide XP of any kind.

I would like to argue that there should be XP that is added to the skills and the jobs associated with the skill you're leveling. Like unarmed if you're using your fists, or a sword or an axe. Whatever it is.

I think it could be balanced to provide less XP so people can still get incentive to make these as the levels don't provide much additional progress that I can see.

These things also can be obtained by everyone so it's not like there's a disparity in the distribution of the items.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Let me know if I can clarify anything.

I haven't played since launch so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think spawners are rare enough as is that allowing xp gain for whatever MCMMO style addon you have would be fine. Especially if you can't pick spawners up.

It’s been deemed not allowed to sit afk with a piece of tape on your mouse/using the in game client to press left click automatically for you every so often for farming, would this incentivize rule breaking behavior?

Seems more in the spirit of mcmmo combat to earn it out and about playing the game doing the things rather than in a controlled environment, but that might just be me

I think this is an entirely valid take. However having grown up playing minecraft and mcmmo I personally enjoy being able to get mcmmo xp this way because this was how it was on most servers back in the day. I guess it's just nostalgic for me. I don't think either option is bad and I'd be fine with either, but that's just my preference.

Maybe you could make xp gain from spawners less than naturally spawning mobs? Or raise the level cap if there is one?

I believe that you actively acquiring the XP for it should be rewarded. If you are found to be AFK farming it and clearly not playing you should be punished.

Don't get me wrong, this may be considered a "cheap" way, but I don't think it should be entirely ruined because of that possibility of abuse. It could be nerfed so people have to put an equal amount of time to running around and killing mobs.

I don't believe you should be able to train skills that you can use against other players by grinding a mob farm at no risk to yourself.
Personally I don't see a great reason to take a hard stance against mob farms right now in my opinion with the combat skill values where they are at now, I can't imagine it possible to hit a level cap on a combat skill thru natural play
(im looking at you unarmed skill)

Is there a way to turn off MCMMO stuff affecting pvp whilst keeping it enabled for pve?

There’s so many ways to gain a pvp combat advantage from grinding (enchanting, netherite gear, potions) it feels like MCMMO stats are unneeded and just disrupt combat balance even further towards favoring time sinkers

MMO style games are always going to favor people who have the time to sink. Barring retirement, I'll never be able to keep up with the majority of players, regardless of the MMO skills.

But frankly the skill increases are a big part of the reason I'm enjoying the server so much. Instead of considering disabling the MMO mechanics, why not just do what traditional MMOs do and periodically run catch-up events? You increase experience gain and the value of loot drops the lower your level in a skill and overall combat power rating.

Meanwhile. During the same event, you give your high level power users the chance to get cosmetic drops, or pieces of a key that allow you to fight a unique boss or something.

As for the grinders giving xp? I think that should be a firm no. The grinder should be useful for collecting their drops, nothing more. A game like this should encourage you to go out, risk gear, and fight for your skills. That's where the gameplay loop shines.

I would however support something like a level-capped server provided mob grinder that you could pay ingame currency scaled to your power level to use. No drops from the mobs, but you could level your combat skills to like 300 until it stops working. Or select a common level among the combat skills that unlock the first/second combat ability. Higher levels give better bonuses for sure, but just having the first stage or two ability closes that gap a ton.
