Pending Routine Community Meetings

I was part of a community in the past that utilized routine meetings in teamspeak to inform players of current server news, big additions/subtractions, and other community relevant information. They were also utilized as a place for community members to ask questions to the leadership at regular intervals.

The meetings, being routine, would draw a lot of people onto the TeamSpeak server at regular intervals and helped really make the TeamSpeak feel alive both before and after said meetings, often sparking TF2/Jackbox/other gamenights and fun immediately after the news is distributed.

After each meeting, a recap would be posted for the community members who missed it covering all the juicy details. Let's pretend a meeting for GL happened yesterday and you missed it; this is what a recap might look like:

Questions

No, "eat steve" isn't a valid New Year's Resolution.

Monthly seems like a good interval on paper for such a thing. Biweekly might have merit too. (this would happen on discord)

it sounds more like you're looking for a community get together for fun, i.e. regularly scheduled game nights? a meeting sounds good in theory but clearly all the info you'd get from that meeting is readily available in discord and on the forums, which makes it feel like a meeting going over all this stuff would be redundant (either that or announcements/info would be saved FOR the meeting which...sounds unappealing). i'm just not sure a meeting would be all that useful given what we have set up already.

i like the idea of weekly/biweekly game nights though.

That's fair, it might be fun on paper to save 1 or 2 things (i.e. this drops NOW on TTT, etc.) for a meeting but I could see how that might be frustrating for players/devs alike. We do have a fair number of announcements happening and with the community growth we are aiming for, it might be better to treat it as an announcement recap opposed to breaking news for players who may want to get quickly caught up on the current stuff.

I am a fan of meetings, but not too hot on the idea of them being any more common than once every month or two. Maybe once we have more games / servers we are hosting it would make sense, but for now my main concern is that the meetings wouldn't have enough talking points to merit the existence of them. That being said, I am all for community meetings where members can speak their peace and be heard 100%

I love this idea. I think something like a town hall every few months would be awesome. Gives community members a chance to speak their mind on specific topics like the state of the server, community initiatives, etc.

Yeah, I think town hall questions and answers in a controlled setting would be awesome at a routine interval, whether it’s about adding new rulings to ttt or what the state of our Minecraft server is. We all have a lot of ideas of how this community can grow, and this would give a regular platform to really both demonstrate our vision and help shape it.
