The Dumbest Death of a Server

Love ya rog, but with all due respect, I think this entirely misses the points that I think Cel is making here. This also applies to what Noct posted.

Things are very clearly still not where they were pre-drama. The TTT server is pretty much completely dead aside from the occasional repop every so often. Minecraft still hasn't fully gotten off the ground. We've lost a lot of people over, to be frank, stupidity and drama that, with most of us being in our late teens and 20s, you'd think we'd be able to work through. We aren't in high school anymore.

I agree that this stifling still stems from a seemingly lack of change. There might be a lot of discussions going on behind closed doors in staff and leadership channels, but to us in the public, and I think a lot of people would agree with me, that we haven't seen much of actual quantitative evidence of actionable change. I feel personally a bit frustrated by this. I'm glad Leads feel like they have a bit more autonomy, but it's become very evident that more is necessary. Hence, we're still stuck in this complete downward spiral.

This is the part I could not agree with Cel more on. We hear things about how changes are coming - my big question is, when? It's been over a month since everything happened. The bureaucratic process that has been talked about time and time again still feels like it's well in effect - and it's going to kill this community if that doesn't change.
I wasn't making some grandiose point with the screenshots I posted beyond "wow another thread let me see how many we've ma- jesus christ" and it made me laugh.

Now, It made me laugh because I think asking jabba to have the elephant "addressed directly, and bluntly," has a level of absurdity to it after how many times that has been asked, purely because it's clearly not going to happen in the way a lot of you think it should. It can repeated that it should happen if you wish I guess, but I personally don't find that to be entirely a good use of anyone's time, or anyone's energy in getting frustrated over anymore. I very much am also sure the working on himself or changing himself thing is not going to result in him coming back with a grand public statement of admittance of wrongdoing. It will be much more mellow and measured than that.

That's the only part of it I really have a take on, I don't know about and haven't partaken in any discussions about change or what TTT / MC / CS2 looks like.

The thing is I don't hate Jabba, but what is currently going on now here is what I have seen in several communities in the past and it's the main reason why I'm not on the side still making any effort to fix things; no matter how much you guys try to push the positive change it will always be bogged down as long as the leader who caused the issues remains on top and remains largely unaffected in the public facing sphere. If Jabba changed, not performatively but simply like a leader should in times like these, odds are you would've seen me and Props back and maybe even others. From what I have witnessed the past month or so is why I have remained apathetic and cynical, and I hate saying that because I don't want to direct that cynicism towards anybody who has poured their heart out to trying to patch things up, but it needs to be said.

I don't believe it a safe option at all to just ignore the elephant in the room and just pat him on the back and go "don't worry buddy we will fix things for you" because that doesn't fix the root problem, it just leaves it to fester as animosity remains a constant because, while good things are happening from you guys, it will constantly be overshadowed until that issue is uprooted. I have talked to several people who felt one of the core issues what that upper staff essentially employed gentle parenting tactics on the owner when they disagreed or tried steering the conversation in a direction they wanted, it never worked. I have heard that it has changed a bit, but it's not enough and no offense to anybody, it's still not nearly quick enough to prove to the community that you guys mean business. I know you guys have tried, but I have also seen just how futile it is. I don't want to say it's too little too late and I hate being a doomer, but from my experience, you guys are doing things detrimentally out of order by chugging forward and just neglecting the elephant.
Dw cel just gotta sit back and watch from the chair 🪑 and see

thats not very Christian of you, those with true faith in God wouldnt relish in the demise of others 🤷‍♀️
This is true! However, God did confuse the people of the Tower of Babel, flood the Earth, and brought ruin to Babylon, all of which for the demise of people who He ruled deserved it because of pride.

Based upon what I’ve read, it seems that leadership caused the demise of this community, which is where my well deserved comment came from. I’m not gonna argue over a seemingly dead community lol. I just had to come see what the haps was with my own eyes.

I’d be more than open for a spirited discussion with you so you can understand my point of view instead of just saying my faith isn’t real because I’m happy people are sticking up for themselves and finally seeing what I saw months ago.

This is a common and repeated issue in Giant's Lair. People on GL feel a little too comfortable to attack people's religion in this place.

Giant's Lair is one of the most bigoted and hateful places I have ever had the displeasure of existing in.
He literally cracked the shits and left cause I, a woman, got admin over him. I'd be mindful about calling me a bigot thanks.

EDIT: I'm sorry to derail Cel. Your frustrations are entirely valid and I hope my comments have not made you feel like I've entirely ignored them.

That’s not true. I left because you were picked over me for an Admin position despite the fact that you played like once every 20 years compared to myself being the most active staff on the entire team at the time who put a lot of time into moderating the server and helping to make this a better place. The frustration came from the people (a lot of which were leadership) who simped over you simply because you’re a woman. When I asked for detailed reasoning as to why you were picked over me (which I feel as a valued community member I was owed), I was given nothing. Quite a few staff that I talked to were genuinely surprised. I found it easier to just quietly leave instead of staying in a place that I did not feel welcomed simply for sharing my opinion as someone who devoted a lot of time into this community in a relatively short amount of time. The communication, or lack thereof, from the leadership team let me know I made the right decision to leave and I was right, cause look where we are now lol

So nice try trying to spin a narrative. Also, indirectly calling me a bigot is not very nice and I’m sure that’s in the rules somewhere. You tried your best.

Nice deflection, you can both be bigots ig.
I'll happily address. I did not say that Roberts faith isn't real. Nor did I attack the particular faith that he has. I made a comment, an observation, on someones behaviour based on my own experience in the Christian faith.

Calling out a particular behaviour of someone does not inherently make the comment bigoted just because I mentioned faith. I didn't say he wasn't a Christian, or any other heinous comment a bigot could. I said the behaviour was not very rooted in the beliefs of the Christian faith. I'm not intolerant of others beliefs. Actually quite the opposite. I'd argue m one of the more understanding and open people around.

Either way I'm not going to continue to argue on the thread out of respect for the OP upon reflection of my actions; I don't want to further diminish someone else's work.

Holy FUCK guys, Mina the Hollower was so worth the wait. Please check it out.

So get this, you play as a rat and like you fight enemies and shit and it's so much fricking fun. Made by the same devs that made Shovel Knight so you can have full confidence that you won't be disappointed.
I'm not clicking those honeypots

The following is a snippet of what was posted on your admin aspirant by me within a day of Anna's promotion:

"Today Etch resigned and it was quickly determined that Anna would be promoted. To be frank, Anna's promotion was based on the feedback I'd received during the last recent promotion and with a lot of other things going on today I quickly pushed the promotion through. Anna has a lot of discord activity around what keeping up with and providing opinions on the discussions in the staff channels despite her difference in timezone to most of the staff team and almost universal support from the current staff team for her promotion and requested by your previous admin. As well as, Anna has a lot of experience and proven tenure within the iterations of this community along with a well proven record with holding an admin position, including helping her moderators rise to becoming admins themselves. Putting Anna on your team is one of the best advantages I can give you to grow into a future admin in this community. ...

...Although you may have concerns of favoritism I do try to give everyone a shot based on feedback I get from admins and active advisors. Unfortunately I received very little positive feedback about you compared to most other applicants. I feel that the major reason for this is that it feels your only presence is server-based aside from worm messages. This was given to you as feedback from 2 admins above on Monday but it doesn't seem you've taken their feedback to heart. The server is an important part of the community, but the higher level of staff you want to be the more important it is to broaden your interactions with multiple facets of the community."
